1st Injectable cycle!
So, AF started on May 29th. I called my RE's office to let them know. Surprisingly, I didn't cry...maybe it's because I knew that it wouldn't work out unless I had some meds.
My RE's nurse said she called in 'a lot' of meds for me since my primary insurance was going to pay for a lot of it. She said not to worry if the pharmacy calls and they said that I owe some outrageous amount.
Freedom Fertility called me. This is the order they had:
Ganirellix Acetate: 5 pre-filled injections (delays ovulation)
Gonal-F 300iu: 2 pens (ovulation inducing)
Gonal-F 900iu: 2 pens (ovulation inducing)
Ovidrel 250mcg: 1 syringe (trigger shot)
Crinone gel 8%: 12 (progesterone supplement)
Here's the breakdown of pricing and what I ended up pay with 2 insurances. Here it turns out that my primary insurance didn't pay for anything! WTH! It was my husband's insurance that paid.
Ganirelix Acetate: 5 x $131.90 = $659.50....Insurance copay cost: $100
Gonal-F 300: 2 x $296.00 = $592.00...Insurance copay cost: $100
Gonal-F 900: 2 x $888.00 = $1776...Insurance copay cost: $100
Crinone progesterone gel 8%: 12 x $13.90 = $166.80...Insurance copay cost: $20
Ovidrel: 1 x $79.50 = $79.50...Insurance cost: $79.50. They would only pay for Novarel, but my RE didn't want me on that.
Total: $3,273.80.....I paid: $399.50 out of pocket
PRETTY GOOD DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Interesting to note that 900 Gonal-F and 300 Gonal-F were the same price! If...and only if I NEED to use them again....I will re-order the 900!
Update: I went to Savings for Self-Pay Patients website via Pinterest. From there, I was able to get a link to click to Compassionate Care Enrollment Form. The PDF required me to enter an email address. Then, I got an RxBIN, RxGroup number, etc. I called Freedom Fertility and asked them if I could get refunded some money from my order according to this additional Rx numbers. They called me back in a few hours to say they were going to credit me $100!!!
And..........I sent in the rebates from this site to get an additional $10 for paying full price for Ovidrel. You print off the little sheet, send in your originial Rx, and payment receipt and they email you back if you qualified or not. I didn't qualify for getting any money back for the meds I paid a co-pay though. It was really only for full price payments.
So..............I paid $289.50 for the meds! Sweets!!!!!!!

Ganirelix
Let me say that Ganirelix burns!!!!!!!!!!!!! I thought it was just me and then I googled it. I found a great tip from a forum. At first, people were saying it depends on the person or because the needle is longer/duller than the other meds. I found that this tip worked for me:
1. Tap out bubbles and prime shot
2. Clean off needle and make sure it is wiped well, so not liquid is there to make a reaction with your skin
3. Inject! Work in needle quickly or move back and forth a little bit.
Apparently, if there is some medicine on the tip of the needle, it comes into direct contact with your skin and makes it burn. I did this after several different applications of it and I must say, it did work for me!

harder to get cervix open. Nurse had to use another speculum to adjust. Then took out and moved it around, then it worked. A lot of cramping during the insertion of the sperm though. Had bad cramping on the right side about 2-3 hours after.
CD16:
nothing to do! lol
CD17:
Start Crinone progesterone gel every morning until HCG blood test on CD27. I will be at the beach, so I can't get a P4 test done on CD20.
CD19-26 BEACH TIME!!! :-)
I noticed that the Crinone gel gave out a clumpy discharge when I wiped. I googled this and it's normal. Eww!

HCG & Progesterone blood work
They called me at 4:30. I was nervous all day, but was 95% sure it would be negative because I had at least 3 pimples brewing on my face.....and I was right. It was negative. I didn't even ask what the numbers were. She did say that my period would be coming in the next day or two. According to Fertility Friend, I'm due on CD30.
Once CD1 starts, it's all over again. I will be reordering more injectables and starting appointments for ultrasounds, etc. Ughhhhhhhhh
