All About Me
Hi there!
I'm 34 and after earning a Masters degree in May 2009, my life turned into a medical rollercoaster! From that spring until now I've had: a diagnosis of 3 hip abnormalities: bilateral dysplasia, femero-acetabular impingement (cam), and acetabular retroversion; mini lap & laproscopy for a large ovarian cyst, MRSA infection, left and right reconstructive hip surgeries in 2010 & 2011, bilateral hip replacements, scar revision surgery, diagnosed with unexplained infertility, 1 natural pregnancy & miscarriage with D&C, 4 Clomid cycles, 4 injectable cycles with double IUI's, 1 fresh IVF cycle with miscarriage with D&C, and 1 frozen embryo transfer with natural miscarriage. In December 2014, I did a fresh & frozen cycle with PGS testing. I got 1 normal embryo out of 5 tested and had an FET on December 10th. From that cycle, I got pregnant for the 4th time for baby #1. AND after 4 placental abruptions, 2 weeks of hospital bedrest, 4 weeks of home bedrest, I had him via a scheduled C-section at 36 weeks, 6 days on August 6, 2015!!
Overall, it's been over 6 1/2 years of infertility and 3 miscarriages due to chromosomal flukes. I've been in talk therapy for years and have taken anti-depressants and anti-anxiety meds. I've learned a lot about myself within a short period of time.
In December 2015, I had been diagnosed with a high grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HGSIL) with colposcopy and CIN 2 results forcing me to get a LEEP. The lab results have come back negative for cancer or any other abnormal cells. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!
BUT as things would turn out, I have had horrendous, gushing, sporadic periods. Say it's 'normal to be abnormal' in June 2016, my OBGYN tried to insert the Mirena IUD, but discovered I have cervical stenosis from the LEEP. I will be getting a D&C to biopsy my lining, insert the Mirena, and figure out why I'm having such terrible periods.
So...this blog isn't just for me to therapeutically write down my thoughts, but it is for other women and men who struggle with the same issues & situations. I don't claim to be an expert in anything lol! I research, ask questions, and listen to those more educated than myself in topics that concern my husband and myself. I feel I've learned a lot, but by no means am I a physician! LOL
What got me thinking about this was Pinterest. My board "I BEAT Infertility & Baby Loss" (formerly "Hoping to beat...") has 768 followers as of January 6, 2016. "My Hips" board has 246 followers. That's awesome and not awesome. It's great that people can look to it as something they share, but sad in the fact that there are that many people struggling with it as well.
I do not make any money off this blog..its more like my online journal/diary! Any links are purely for clarification.
I hope this blog helps you...if it does, please tell me! Otherwise, I've written in vain. I really do love reading emails from those who read my blog...I never would've thought that being myself and airing out my rants/learnings would get me a new group of friends and soldiers in the battle against infertility, recurrent pregnancy loss, and orthopedic surgeries. There are so many of us out there and we must stick together for no one understands what we've experienced. I will always be myself on this blog for it is my own personal therapy. I swear...well, I swear a lot actually hahaha, I'm angry, anxious, bitter, hopeful, and terrified all at the same time. I definitely do not sugar coat anything...life's too short for that!
I've made some funny pictures that I've posted on Pinterest. If you've seen any of these below, they were made by me! Yes, I realize I have some extra time on my hands, but I like to do stuff like this....and I love Pinterest too. Makes me stay away from the crap on Facebook...especially all those pregnancy pre-birth announcements!
I made the images using ROFL bot, Quozio, Meme Generator. Make some of your own!
